Anchoring the island is Acadia National Park, with hiking and biking trails crisscrossing the granite hills. Be sure to visit Cadillac Mountain, the first spot in the U.S. to see the sunrise, and Thunder Hole, a natural rock inlet where the waves crash with a resounding boom.
